Considerations for the Color Classic Analog Board:

In the Color Classic, the analog board generates power for the logic board, hard drive, and other connected devices. However, the voltage settings of the semi-fixed trimmer potentiometer at "PP7" may be set at the bare minimum, sometimes failing to supply a full 5V (or 12V).If this is the case, even a slight increase in power consumption—such as adding expansion cards to the logic board or connecting additional hard drive devices—can prevent the system from booting properly, sometimes resulting in no startup chime. The semi-fixed trimmer potentiometer at PP7 can be adjusted clockwise to increase the voltage. When measuring the 5V output, an ideal setting is considered to be just under 5.25V, which is approximately 5% above the nominal value.
Also, due to the structure of the semi-fixed trimmer pot of the PP7, the voltage can become unstable if the contact becomes poor. In that case, the fixed trimmer pot itself needs to be cleaned or replaced.

  • Adjustments are made at your own risk and you should be aware of the risk of electric shock.
  • PP7 is located at the boundary between the CRT and the analog board, near the 5600uF electrolytic capacitor on the left side when viewed from behind.
